Perfect Sound S101

Perfectsound  from Taiwan have added themselves to the ever growing list of new headphone manufactures, sadly though some of these new 'manufactures' are just re branding and putting their own name on them.

  PerfectSound aim to be something a little different, even though when designing headphones or earphones the chances are that your earphones are going to resemble someone else, just look at loudspeakers for a clear example of this.

 Now getting back to Perfectsound, they have come up with something very trendy and modern looking, a design for sure that will divide opinion, maybe more popular amongst the younger generation than the silver surfers.

  The design and marketing is very eye catching, matched to a very sleek modern website Perfectsound certainly know how to grab your attention, the perfectsound website really is the perfect example of how a website showcasing your products should be done, a great start. The same can be said about the packaging of the d901 headphone, it really is most impressive, from the logo design through to the colour scheme, the black on lime green is very trendy and cool looking, a very professional looking package.

  Now though we get introduced to the S101, frankly speaking I've never seen anything quite like it, the first thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is the SWAROVSKI®ELEMENTS stone found on the S101, this is a very unique selling point.

 Yet again Perfectsound have designed a beautiful looking package, it has been presented beautifully, it gives you a boost of confidence in the brand as they have gone to so much trouble to get their branding right, they have hit the nail right on the head.

  Perfectsound will do well, they put themselves out, they have produced a very slick, good looking website, packaging is superb, there really is very little to critise here, if anything at all.

 Now this is all when and good, but what if they sound bad? Now price wise they are not priced at the entry level end of the market, that is for sure, but then again one may correctly ask if they are style over substance? Clearly the design is a major selling point, but these also sound extremely satisfying, the sound is very open and crisp, treble detail is very opened and clear, they sound upbeat and lively. They are well balanced, they are not bass heavy, which is a good thing, but saying that you can change quite dramatically how they sound by changing the rubber tips on the end, this really does make quite a difference to the overall presentation and bass response.

 From the little I have seen so far from Perfectsound they have a very clear mission, to make stylish modern earphones and headphones that not only look the business but to also manage to sound very good to boot. For sure some purists will tell you looks have been put before sound, but the frank truth of the matter is these new earphones have very cleverly managed the fine balance of looking amazing while still sounding great at the same time.

 So, well done to PerfectSound, a very profession and sleek start to this very competitive area of the market.

Edwards Audio SP1

Summer is on it's way, the temperature is rising and we,ve got some sizzling new hot products to tell you about. Firstly take a look these stunning new speakers from British manufacture Edwards Audio.

 The SP1 stand mount loudspeakers have been designed and made in the UK. The fit and finish of the speakers is exemplary, here we have the white gloss finish (which is an optional extra). We must say this little speaker looks absolutely stunning!

 Lets take a look a the technical details;

W=170mm
D = 250mm
H = 310mm

19mm MDF Rear ported 2 way bass reflex with 2.5kHz X-over via 2 Pole filter

Power handling 75W

Sensitivity = 87dB - 1W 1 metre.

The sound from the SP1 is spellbinding for their very modest price, they sound very open and punchy, bass while not hugely deep is very quick and snappy, there is no bloom or flabby sounds coming from the rear port, it's quick, tight and very well controlled.

 The midband is very transparent and clear, vocals are well projected in to the room and realistic sounding, these speakers are not warm or mushy sounding, the are transparent, informative and uncoloured.

We believe you will be pleasantly surprised by this package, stunning build, great looks matched to a fantastic sound, not for the pipe and slipper brigade but a speaker for those that like it clean, transparent and truthful.
